I have enjoyed woodworking all my life. Many years ago I set aside the corporate world to build art furniture full time. My studio is located in the forest on the banks of the scenic Rum River in Minnesota.
I believe that inspiration can come from anywhere. I aspire, as William Blake suggested, “to see the world in a grain of sand”. Careful attention to the details in my work leads to smile producing surprises for all those who look closely.
Today, my works are well known for their fluid, nature inspired designs, the use of exotic woods, stained glass, patinated copper, and inlays of brass, silver, abalone, and mother of pearl. My work has been published in many national periodicals, has received awards and recognition in numerous juried exhibitions and has been on display in galleries in Minneapolis, Minnesota and San Francisco, California.
Recently I assisted in the creation of Europa II- the 2009 Art Case piano for Steinway and Sons. One of my latest works “Queen of the Slipstream” has been named the 2017 national Niche Award winner. I have also received the Award of Excellence Award in both the 2013 and 2016 American Craft Council Shows in St Paul, MN.
In addition to woodworking, I enjoy music and an "occasional" glass of wine. When the two are combined, I will argue endlessly with myself, debating the best music ever written. Today, it’s a tie between Chopin’s Fantaisie Impromptu and Neil Young’s Hurricane.
